Pepeha Display!

Room 25 have been working on their Pepeha's, to find out more about where they are living, where they are from and how they connect to others within the class. A Pepeha is a way to introduce yourself in Te Reo Māori and it tells people who you are by sharing your connections with the people and places that are important to you.

What are other Māori traditions that you know of?

Describe them below!

  1. Kia ora Room 25, Cole here from Romm 25.
A Moari tradition that i know is Matariki.
Matariki is the Māori name for the cluster of stars also known as the Pleiades. It rises in midwinter and for many Māori, it heralds the start of a new year. Matariki literally means the 'eyes of god' (mata ariki) or 'little eyes' (mata riki).
